PNNC Rescue Introduction
Sadly, there are times when people cannot keep their Newfoundland. That is when Rescue comes in! We take in ANY purebred Newf, registered or not, regardless of age or health.

The most frequently asked question is how do dogs end up in rescue? We have had everything from owners who were too busy for the dog, to court-ordered foster care for neglected dogs. Some dogs arrive perfectly groomed, most are full of mats. Many of the dogs in rescue started off as the cute new member of the family, everyone loved them and spent time with them. As they got older and bigger the family got busier and busier, hey that’s life! One day they go in the backyard and suddenly they have a dog who weighs over 100 lbs. who barely knows his name or the word “No”. Then I get the call, “When can I bring him to you?”

Once a dog arrives we assess the dog, groom them, see what level of training they have had, and figure out their personality. We then go through our applications and match the dog with his forever home. If there is not a suitable home, he stays here until one is found for him.

For anyone interested in adopting a Newf, the process is not difficult. The first step is to fill out the adoption application. When we receive the application, we will check your references. We also require an in-home visit with you before a dog is placed in your family. The hard part is waiting for your Newf!

The best or the worst thing that can happen to a dog is his owner! Think carefully before making any animal a part of your family! A Newf is a high-maintenance dog. They shed ALL the time, and they drool buckets! No Newf is happy on the outside looking in, they want to be part of your family! You will be rewarded with love, devotion, and a wonderful life with a Newf!

Thank you for your interest in Newf Rescue!
